Monday Screening

Storm tomorrow for a bout 6 inches of snow and then a huge storm all day Wednesday for another 15 inches of the white stuff. Just unreal.

Monday Screening
Monday is screening night! I am working in The PPT and the 12631 tonight. Not much looking too interesting, I will update later if I find anything that I am going to trade.

Market is ugly right here and long side bets are harder to find all of a sudden. Figures.

Update:
Not much turning up on my screens. Best looking ideas are HSY, AMRC, and BMY.

Update:
Going in long with HSY and AMRC. Smallish positions.

Have a good night.

You know what, GYC? I woke up this morning, made a pot of coffee and read the newspaper. The weatherman is predicting freezing rain and snow over the next few days, temperatures in the low 20s.

Down here, that's very rare, and potentially disastrous as it will wipe out citrus groves and sugar cane crops, costing farmers millions.

Not only that, but now I have to drive around to 30+ houses and turn the heat on, in addition to making sure they've been winterized. Plus, yesterday was repo day, so I'll doubtless have to go to many more homes.

This sucks. I hate cold. Like oil and water, me and cold do not mix. I can handle sweating like a dog in an un-air conditioned house, where the heat index is over 120, but driving around in freezing rain and snow is not my idea of fun.

Global warming, my butt.

You have to look on the bright side Gawains, at least the cold keeps the dead Possum odors down to a minimum.

(At least that's what I thought you said had died in that one house, I can't remember exactly)

You guys can laugh all you want, but you have no idea what this is doing to me. Freezing rain and snow? I remember Christmas Days when it was 95 degrees outside!

I fried an egg on the sidewalk once when I was a kid. It used to get so hot, and I'm talking like 115, that we would have slow races across the street barefoot--whoever made it to the other side last won. Blisters on the bottoms of your feet were a badge of honor. Hell, I remember days when I had to walk to school, and the soles of my shoes melted and stuck to the pavement.

20 degrees, freezing rain and snow, are you freaking kidding me? My mother told me, we need to drive to all these houses and turn the heat on. I said, OK, put on some clothes, and didn't even make it to my truck before I turned around and came back inside. Find someone else, I told her. Send a contractor, I don't care, but I am not going back out there. I am not an Eskimo, and I don't have a parka.

I got my thermostat set at 100. I'm wearing three pairs of socks, two pairs of jeans, four t-shirts, two sweat shirts, plus a scarf. And I'm still shivering.

Rolling blackouts across Texas, blizzard conditions in Dallas, they closed the airport at DFW because they don't have de-icing equipment.

I was going to fly up there to watch the Super Bowl with my friend Ween, but that's so far out of the question now it's not even funny.

I am not leaving the house unless it's to get whiskey to keep my blood warm. But I'm more willing to go through withdrawal pains than I am to go back outside.
