Cooking Stuff and Forgetting Pictures

Weather just cannot be beat so far, perfect.

Cooking Stuff and Forgetting Pictures
I made up about 50 MOINKS and 30 chicken drumsticks for the cookout I attended. Here is the stuff before cooking:

Of course things got a bit hectic and I forgot to take any pictures of anything else! This sucks because the finished MOINKS that I glazed with raspberry Polaner jelly (heated in microwave 1 minute, add a bit of water then mix) were amazing! I am sorry.

Not to leave you with no food pictures, I made steaks today so we can settle for that pictorial.

I had a nice T-Bone and the wife and mother in law got tenderloins. I even threw in some fresh asparagus and mashed potatoes:

Dinner time!:

As of late the birdfeeder has been getting cleaned out quick, and I wondered if we were getting invaded by an army of squirrels. This evening I caught the culprit, a huge deer!!!!!:

I did not want to startle the big fellow so I had to shoot pictures through the widow and screen. So cool!!! Made the whole weekend.

Skip to the 38:30 mark for a classic line!!!:

BADASS!

Have a good night.

Say WHAT?!!! No pics of the MOINKS? Grrrr . . .

Oh well, you're forgiven due to the nice shots of Bambi. Plus the steaks. Nice steaks, in fact! :)

And I had a good weekend, too. But it's way too damn HOT!!! And tomorrow will be around 90 here in NYC. GROSS! I'm a little peeved because I had to drag out the window ACs and reinstall them a bit earlier than I usually do each year. Generally I don't like to operate air conditioning until after June 2. But this year I had to cave in and turn them on last week because of this blasted heat wave.

So, not happy . . .

Oh, you had to pull out a first season episode, eh? Oh man, you have no idea how much I've memorized these episodes. I know the first season ones almost line for line. And while the dialogue you point out is indeed badass . . . I *ALWAYS* get more of a kick out of what happens at the 44:54 minute mark:

"In the future, I'll remember to leave your friends in peace."

"What future?" CHOP!

HAHA! Oh man, I *LOVE* that! My friends and wife alone know just how many times I quote that. They must be so sick of it by now.

Thanks for posting this, man. Made my night!

Okay, I'm back. Sorry I didn't get to check in over the weekend, but I never even plugged my laptop in. Ween showed up at the hotel just as I was checking in, and we spent the whole weekend partying, driving around, dining at fine restaurants, and engaging in lively debates on just about every subject, but mostly about the Cowboys and the NFL. It was fun.

Thanks for the birthday card, GYC. It's the only one I received.

Nice job on those steaks. Now that's what I'm talking about. But I don't know what a Moink is, never heard of one.

By the way, GYC, I was talking to my friend Boogity the other day, and he explained his secret bar-be-que sauce to me. Now, Boogity is originally from Texas but now lives in Tennessee, and he has a black belt in bar-be-que. Here's his secret sauce.

1/2 cup bar-be-que sauce
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup Coca-Cola

Boogity said the butter thins the sauce and makes it easier to spread, and the Coca-Cola acts as a tenderizer while the sugar makes the sauce stick to the meat.

Hmmm. I would have never thought of adding Coca-Cola to bar-be-que sauce. He said that recipe works best on chicken and pork ribs, but on beef ribs or brisket he substitutes coffee. Of course, it goes without saying that one would never put any kind of sauce on a steak. Nobody bar-be-ques steak. Steaks are for grilling.

Anyway, I thought you might find his secret recipe interesting. You might want to try it out. I'm going to this weekend.

Oh, and Happy Memorial Day.

By the bye, I am shocked--shocked!--you didn't know that "La Grange" was a ZZ Top song. I mean, they do have a distinctive sound. And they're still together, still touring, after four decades. I saw them a couple of years ago, and they put on an incredible performance, played all their great songs. They're timing is impeccable. If you ever get the chance, do not miss that Little Ol' Band from Texas.

Culinary pornography

I'm being offered a barely used $900 Ducane gas grill for free. I might use that for awhile and wait to see if the economy takes down the prices of the Green Egg grills.

I had a Ducane on my balcony when I lived in NYC and loved it.

Gawains,
glad you had a good time, I will try that sauce idea!

Dave, those are nice gas grills, should be ok for a bit until I get you to buy a Steel Keg!
