Bass Pro Shops Haul
Stopped in at Bass Pro Shops Saturday and it was like being in a toy store for fishermen! So much stuff, I was getting a bit dizzy.
Luckily they had a complete Yamamoto lure section, so I stocked up on the best lure ever invented, the Senko! Here is the haul:
Got a nice Shimano reel for $29.95 as well! Maybe next weekend I will head out to catch some fish.
Flanking Maneuver
Had some nice flank steak in Antigua so I thought I would give it a go on The Big Steel Keg.
I bought a package of flank steak and I tried out a new marinade, Allegro, which looked good at the store:
I cut the steak into strips and then hammered the crap out of them with a mallet. This thins them out nice. Yes, I was beating the meat:
The Mom in Law does not like marinaded steaks, so I grabbed a few small tenderloins as well. Asparagus tops rounded out the pre-cook line up:
Everything was pretty good. Here are the flank steak strips almost done:
I forgot to grab a picture of the dinner plate.
I like the marinade but it was just a touch too salty. Never know until you try.
Market Operations
Homework night as I try to find some ideas for stock positions. Will update later if I like anything.
Added:
I like OCLR, ZLCS, SOFO, and LF here.
Have a good night.

Are you 'wacky rigging' (hook in the center) your Senkos or are you using a different set up i.e. some form of Texas-rigged?
Watchtower,
depends on the day. Wacky rigging has advantages but sometimes I think it is too much action. The smallmouths here like the regular set up; circle hook through the tip. This casts better than wacky as well. The gentle coasting of the bait this way works well.
I would add wacky rigged on a drop shot setup in deeper water is deadly!
I've been using the Texas-rigged but sometimes I have trouble getting the hook thru the plastic body (even though I'm using a med/heavy rod and a baitcasting reel).
I'm going to try the wacky rig this year but I don't hold much hope for it.
There's just tons of things underwater to hang up on around here (Largemouth Bass fishing).
A few ponds up here are heavy matted with vegetation. I use those off set hooks and I let the point come out of the worm, just enough to not get snagged. Hook ups go up a ton and only a little extra snagging.
I'll try it.
My father had a stock pile of fishing lures when died. And over a dozen really good rods and reels. And three depth finders. And a bunch of other stuff. I don't remember what his favorite was. He mostly fished for muskie.
Muskies are big time fish! You should check those lures out, some old pflueger and arbogast lures are collectors items. Thanks so much for stopping in, I look forarwd to my little bits of history every day!
