Saturday NFL Preview

Winterized the lawn today. Seeing that it was 40 degrees most of this week I figured I should get it wrapped up for the season. It may even snow tomorrow again so you can imagine how excited I am. I have extra time so I thought I would throw up an NFL post.

Voting is still open for the inaugural Friday Night Video Fights. I am a bit surprised that Billy Idol's "Dancing with Myself" is winning by such a large margin. I have not seen a beating like that since Roberto Duran stopped Davey Moore in New York!

Week 6 in the NFL
This week is stacked with some great games, and some real loser games. Let's take a look.

NY Giants at New Orleans Saints
The biggest game of the weekend. The best team in the NFC (and likely the NFL) Giants bring their ferocious pass defense into the Superdome. The Saints have a chance to make a real statement about where they are after 2 years out of the playoffs. Key parameter to watch, if the Saints run for over 100 yards, they will win. Great game, but I think the Giants pull this one off.

Baltimore Ravens at Minnesota Vikings
After starting strong, the Ravens have lost two in a row. Their schedule gets no easier with a trip to Minnesota. The Vikings have been good, but there seems to be an air of danger to when on offense. Fumbles and other miscues have gone unnoticed because they have been winning, but they have been far from smooth. I think the Ravens bounce back with the upset win.

Tennessee Titans at New England Patriots
The Patriots have not lost 2 games in a row since 2006. The Titans have the worst pass defense in the league and have given up the most points in the NFL. If the Pats are going to get their offense in gear, this should be the game. Only one problem; weather forecast is for wind, rain, and possible some wet snow. Makes it hard to throw the football, yes? I think the Patriots win a nail biter late.

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers
This could be game of the week as well. The Chargers have to win this game or their season is finished, it's that simple. The Broncos have impressed so far, and coming off a big win against the Patriots they will have to guard against a letdown. I think the Chargers are going to forget about the run and just throw bombs down the field. As such look for Champ Bailey to make some big plays, and Denver wins going away. Bye Bye San Diego!

Other items:

-St. Louis vs Jacksonville, who cares?

-The Eagles travel to the Raiders to play a game that is already over.

-The Jets get better quick with a visit by the Bills.

-Pittsburgh hosts Cleveland, boring.

-The Texans play the first place Bengals. First place?? Wow.

-Chicago and Atlanta play an important game that could be a big tie breaker issue at playoff time so both teams need to win it.

-There are a few other games, but nothing too interesting.

Have a good night.

Being as I live about 140 miles away from the Titans home stadium I will pick them against your Patriots (yep, I'm a glutton for punishment).
I usually listen to 'Titan's Radio' Monday morning after they have a game and I believe even they have given up on them.
But I'll go for the underdogs, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then.

You need this mayor from Moscow there where you live:

Moscow Mayor Promises a Winter Without Snow

"Pigs still can't fly, but this winter, the mayor of Moscow promises to keep it from snowing. For just a few million dollars, the mayor's office will hire the Russian Air Force to spray a fine chemical mist over the clouds before they reach the capital, forcing them to dump their snow outside the city."

Well, since the Cowboys aren't playing, I really could care less about any of these games. Or actually not. I want the Giants and the Eagles to lose.

But you're right, GYC, the New York at New Orleans is the game of the week. I might actually watch that one, if it's shown down here. I'll take the Saints in a stunning upset.

Baltimore at Minnesota. All I want to see from this game is Brett Favre carried off the field on a stretcher.

Tennessee at New England. Eventually the Titans are going to find a way to win a football game. But not this weekend.

Denver at San Diego. This is an important matchup. I'll take the Broncos in a blowout.

As for the rest, who does care? I don't. Well, I'd like to see Chicago put the hurt on Atlanta, since the Falcons are coming to Dallas next weekend and I'm going to that game. But I don't think the Bears are up to it.

Watchtower,
if the weather was fine, I say Pats in a blowout. As the weather is going to be nasty, I have some real fears on this game.

Gawains,
The cowboys play the saints this year, so I hope we can still be friends after that tilt!

Seriously, the Saints-Giants game is really huge. This is the game that the Saints always fail at, big game against quality opponent. The Saints can lose tomorrow and still be in great shape if they play a good game and come up short. If they give it away (mistakes, turnovers, penalties) then they have gone no where. I think the Giants win, but only if NO has under 100 yards on the ground. Cannot wait!

I don't even know which games they're going to show down here. Probably the Texans and the Bengals, maybe the Giants and the Saints. I'll have to look at the schedule.

I'd really like to see New Orleans win, but that New York defense is tough. This will be Eli Manning's first game ever in the Superdome, even though he grew up seven minutes from there and went to games regularly for years. His father and both of his brothers got to play there in high school, but he never did. So this will be a homecoming of sorts to him.

I like the Saints though, always have. They were Elvis Presley's favorite team. I think Dallas made a big mistake letting Sean Payton go. Tony Romo has regressed without him, and Drew Brees has excelled with him. But this will be a defensive game.

I'm with you on the power running. That's how football games are won. However, it's hard to run on the Giants. Their defense is very aggressive and strong up front. I think Brees is going to have to win this one in the fourth quarter.

Anyway, will we still be friends when Dallas goes to New Orleans? Sure, I don't know we wouldn't. But I won't talk to you for a couple of hours while the game is on.

All,
Todays must read, see how the FHA is helping a 20 year old buy and flip houses:

I give up.

Wow. They're showing the New York at New Orleans game, and the Saints are butchering the Giants!

I thought the New York defense would at least be able to put up a fight, but this is ridiculous. It's not even competitive.

I've always liked New Orleans and can't think of anything I'd rather see than for the Saints to win it all. Well, naturally I'd rather see the Cowboys win it all, but that's not going to happen.

I was at the game in Texas Stadium back in 06 when the Saints came marching in and beat up on Dallas. I said it then and I'll say it now, this team is going places.

To decimate the New York defense like this is impressive. If the Saints can maintain this level of productivity, I don't see anyone out there who can beat them.

But anything can happen in the NFL, so I'll reserved judgement until the final whistle blows.

That story on the FHA is symptomatic of the problem plaguing the US at this time. That is not home ownership. It's debt slavery. And the FHA is a joke.

Oh, suddenly, with a few improvements your house is now worth $225,000? Get a clue. Put it on the market and list it at that price, see what happens. Absent some greater fool with an FHA loan, it won't sell for anwhere near that price.

This is what I have learned in the real estate business. Price opinions and appraisals are meaningless. A house is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Everything else is bovine excrement.

And nothing is final until money changes hands. At closing and funding, then and only then do you know the true market value.

This idiot thinks she made $100,000 in one month by taking out a toxic loan? Please. Show me the money or shut up.

Well that was a real nail biter.
I wonder how 'Titan's Radio' will spin this tomorrow.

It's hard to believe it's already snowing up there.

Here is some Tom Brady 'Fun Facts' (unless your a Titan's fan):

"1. He threw more touchdown passes in the game's first 30 minutes than the Lions, Dolphins, Rams, Panthers, Browns and Raiders had total for the season coming into today.

2. All those touchdown passes came in the second quarter, the most thrown by a quarterback in one period since 1950.

3. The Patriots 45-0 halftime lead is the biggest in the NFL since 1950.

4. The yardage and touchdown passes were all first half career highs for Brady.

5. Brady's 24/28, 345 yard, 5 touchdown start was good for a quarterback rating of 157.6 (a perfect rating is 158.3). If you ever need examples of why the QB rating system is archaic, look no further. How can Brady's half not be perfect?"

Well, all of my dreams came true today. The Giants were exposed, the Redskins were embarrassed and the Eagles were humiliated. I'll take that on any Sunday.

Congratulations, GYC, your Saints are for real. Still wondering whether Brady is an asset or a liability to the Patriots, are you? Not after today you're not.
