Escape Velocity Friday

It actually snowed last night and we might even get a few inches tomorrow night! Readers know how much I despise the winter.

Rocket Market
October was lights out for markets as the S&P 500 rose over 14%, one of it's best month ever. The Reformed Broker has a great chart of the best months for the S&P via Bespoke Investment group showing them all there.

I covered why I believed a large move up was coming:
-Panic De-Selling October 17th
-Resolution is at Hand October 19th

I mentioned last night that I did not trade this move well in my trading account but what can you do.

Looking ahead if markets can consolidate and tighten up next week, a sustained move into the next month is the most likely outcome. I will have much more on this Sunday when it is homework night but until then here is a chart worth a look as I have been using it as my guide for this summer into fall season of chaos (click for larger view):

If We Don't Love our Humanity the Robots Win
Fellow 12631 member TDLAmagi tweeted this story today and it's just my kind of thing:
Scientists create brain-like, massively parallel computer from molecules
Using the chemical 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone(DDQ) and gold, the computer is fashioned! Read the piece as it's more complicated than that. Bottom line, quantum computers are coming and they will become self aware.

Film Clips
Some ideas for your NFLX or Red Box addiction.

"The Godfather III" gets a bad rap but I really think it was well done and a strong film. There are several key parts but I love when Vincent takes on the two assassins Zasa sent after him (and Bridgett Fonda eye candy):

"I'm gonna do something to convince you"

A made for TV movie (TNT) that did not suck was the supernatural "Purgatory". Featuring an all star cast, this film had a novel concept of former gunfighters (Wild Bill Hickock, Doc Holliday, Billy the Kid and others) having to serve out a penance period before being allowed into Heaven. Chance brings an outlaw bad into their town and it's just a great story. Highly recommend:

You will thank me later.

Rock Blogging
Making the music since 2007.

Why not a little mood music? Def Leppard and "Have You Ever Needed Someone so Bad":

Nice.

Reader Watchtower was worried "Dreamboat Annie" by Heart was too mellow for Friday night. I play all kinds of stuff, no problem:

I love that tune actually.

I played the next tune a while ago and it got rave reviews. Since then I have many new readers (thanks! leave a comment!) and a number of quality Twitter followers. I am playing again so this gets heard. You will love this Phil Pearlman! Cover of "Tears of the Dragon":

Epic.

My favorite Guns N' Roses song is "You Could be Mine" out of a sea of killer songs. Everyone hates this one because it was attached to Terminator 2. Too bad:

Ok, two left.

Got this one stick in my head on drive home so it's Santa Esmeralda and "Don't Let me be Misunderstood":

That will get you moving.

Last call, grab a drink and whatever else you need.

Alice in Chains, "Would?" is nasty fine:

Have a good night.

Def Leppard is my wife's favorite band. She's been following them since she was a little girl in Jamaica--whoa! Thanks for putting up that song. It's pure ACES!!!

I created a kickass iTunes playlist for her with all the best songs from each of their albums. I rock out to it too, from time to time. :)

I wouldn't put much faith in this market run up. It's a seasonal thing, happens every year.

We got Halloween, Thanksgiving, Crhistmas, and New Year's Eve coming, and the markets always trend up around this time, because people travel, make purchases and spend money. Talk to me in February during the aftermath. You know, sometime around Valentine's Day.

GYSC, I know you hate baseball, but...

WooHoooo!!! Cards win!!!

As I've mentioned before, my wife is from St Louis, and it goes without saying that her and her family are Cardinal fanatics.

We are driving up to St Louis today for a huge family fish fry and to celebrate the Cards 11th World Series victory!

(Of course I won't be celebrating too much seeing that I have to drive home this evening, lol)

Another great Friday night of music. Thanks for posting the chart, too! Wow, you got snow already. One of my older brothers is coming by tomorrow to help me do a few things outside to get ready for winter...it's for sure on the way. Have a good weekend.

Julian, you too!

David, yes thats is a great tune. Mood setter yes? Watched Highlander last night for 5 millionth time and just noticed when Connor is in Brenda;s apartment the song playing is a piano version of one of the films songs!

Gawains, yeah it's a fall thing!

Watchtower, congrats for the Cards and the huge win!

Sov, thanks man.

Yes, awesome scene! That's the piano version of the main melody -- the one which is used to great bombastic effect when Ramirez is training Connor.

I always remember the scene where they are sparring on top of the mountain peak and Connor finally disarms that "Spanish peacock." My first thought is always: "No! Not the SWORD!!!" :)

LOL! I said that last night "don't shatter the sword on the rocks fool!"

G. My brother came over today. I mentioned that you liked Nascar.

I will send you a link to his site.

He is nice guy. He has been following Nascar for a long time.

These October snow storms are freaking me out! Good Lord, two feet of snow, temperatures below 30, trees falling over, power outages for millions of people. There is absolutely no way I could deal with that. Me and cold don't mix. And I've only seen snow twice in 50 years.

It was chilly down here yesterday, around 45. That's pretty damn cold for these parts. I had to wear a jacket. But now it's bright and sunny.

I wonder how those OWS clowns are doing in their tents right about now.

I trust you got your generator working, GYC. I feel for you, man. Brave the weather!
