I got stuck with errands and things, so a bit short on time tonight. It makes little difference that I am not doing a post though, news has come that Steve Jobs has passed away.
I crack on Apple plenty and I will most likely never buy a product of theirs (I am too PC ingrained) but I am not stupid. Steve Jobs return to Apple marked some of the most innovative products of all time. Jobs was able to fuse the new era of Internet with products people wanted to use. I think it fair to say Apple has changed the world in the last decade, and probably most of that can be attributed to Steve Jobs.

There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said by smarter and more articulate people than myself, but I've always been a fan of Steve Jobs. One of my first grown-up jobs (I was 21) was the spring and summer I spent working for a major Apple distributor in Toronto. Times were different then - Bill Gates was taking over the world and Apple wasn't super cool. But look how it all changed. I love my iPhone.
His legacy will live on.
I've never used an Apple product. Not because I have something against Apple, but rather because I'm more comfortable with a PC.
My father, who was a programming genius dating back to the days of huge main frames that ran on circular tape and punch cards, once bought an Apple. He took it back the next day. "Real men use PCs, son," he told me.
When I went out to California to visit my friend Joey, a systems analyst and a genius whom my father mentored, we went to this coffee shop downtown in Silicon Valley. Surrounded by geeks, I said real loud, "I like Bill Gates." Damn near started a riot.
