All We Have is a Long List of Excuses

Way short on time tonight so just a few thoughts.

All We Have is a Long List of Excuses
I think all that is wrong with things is best summed up by two examples. In the end to find out who is running the show and where the real interest lies these two answer the questions.

When we needed campaign finance reform we got the McCain-Feingold Bill which changed nothing.

When we needed financial reform we got the turd of a bill just passed which does nothing about anything.

That's really all you need to know. Everything else is window dressing and discussions over drinks. I do not think I even have to write anything more other than the same set of idiots running the FED (OMG, I did link Mark Thoma in a good light, the world is surely ending!) are the same as the isolated DC elected officials that think we cannot read and would accept that these bills are "better than nothing". They are nothing and please do not confuse zero turnout at votes and general apathy as acceptance.

For future reference on the smart guys running the FED, mark this one down big time:
SF FED: State Budget Issues Only Moderate Risk to National Recovery
I mean, it's like contained, right??

I had some more stuff but I wanted to leave off with this remarkable video tribute to the site The Automatic Earth, which really should be a regular stop for you:

That was well done.

Have a good night.

Wow, everyone loves corn on the grill!

As KD said, soak the corn (you have to loosen the husks a bit first) for 20-30 minutes and then grill them direct over medium heat. After about 15-20 minutes they are all set! I was shocked this worked so well, but then again I am easily amused.

Gawains,
so glad your cat came home!

Thanks, GYC. Me too. I was really worried about her over the weekend, kept wandering around the complex calling her name, but she was nowhere to be found. Then mysteriously she showed up at my patio door at 6:00 AM!

Very thirsty, she drank water for 10 minutes, and hungry, she ate an entire plate of food, and tired, she curled up on my futon and slept all day.

I have no idea where she's been for the last three days, but I'm glad she's home safe. I missed her.

"Ally is an outdoor cat," my mother said.

I said, "Yeah, well, she's an indoor cat from now on. Stop leaving the damn door open!"

By the way, I'm going to send you a guest post about the dirty little secret of price opinions, in response to what Barry Rithotlz has had to say about housings prices lately (like he sells real estate).

I think you will be amused.

I saw on the "Gold vs. Paper" blog a note about Morgan Stanley (MS) and this thing has really broken down:

Gawains,
just missed your comment!

I LOVE cats big time and if you can kep them indoors, it adds many years to their lives.

I will be light on material this week so if you have a post to submit it will make things easy for me! I think your writings have added real value here.
