My Top Ten Must See Movies
Seems top ten lists were all the rage this week! My friend from the iBC 12631 trading room @HalfBloodPope suggested this list and I don't think I have ever done one.
A top ten films list is difficult, you cannot hit everything. I will leave off the easy ones like "The Godfather" etc you already know those. No detailed explanation, if you see these films get back to me and let me know what you thought. My top 10 list of films you have to see (not my favorite 10, not best 10 ever, just 10 you may have not seen):

Big time admission here, I mortally hate The Beatles. I don't own one iota of their music and think 90% of it is total crap with 10% maybe tolerable. There I said it.
I sort of feel the same about Nirvana, I think many other bands were better but they got the "Grunge" pioneer tag. Chance is a funny thing. That said, this live version of "Heart Shape Box" via @a_bh_a is very good:

It's really too bad that you hate the Beatles so much. They are the only band to have sold over a billion records. They were the first to record distortion, the first to use compression, and the first to print lyrics. Like it or not, those four boys from Liverpool changed the world, man.
Elvis is the only other artist to have sold over a billion records. He changed the world too, but not in the same way. At least the Beatles wrote their own songs.
Diane Lane it totally hot. I love her, but she did not sing that song. She's an actress, and a very good one, but she did not sing that song.
Elvis was a performer, the best in history. I saw him live in 72, and I'm telling you no one could command an audience like that man. But he only wrote maybe six of the hundreds of songs he recorded.
The Beatles were a band. They wrote their own music. Most of it was really good. Some of it was a little odd. They did a couple of covers when they were starting out, but the rest was all theirs.
Oh, and the only band to sell as many gold records as the Beatles was . . . wait for it . . . Kiss.
Still, I'll take Black Sabbath over all of them.
Good list GYSC, I think 'Streets of Fire' would fit in there too.
The critics didn't seem to impressed with it, but when I watched it as a teenager in the 80's I thought it was pretty cool.
Wow nice place for real enjoyment I loved such places where electricity makes the climate soundly and colorful.

I guess my issue with the Bugs is that everyone says they did everything that music ever was, but really they were just 4 good looking guys at the right time and place for a rock and roll inflection point. Could have been any other 4 guys and I believe that. Take Sabbath over all of them too.

Well, I guess you can say that. They were 4 good looking guys, when they were young. But I'm telling you, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band revolutionized the music industry. That was the first album with the lyrics printed.
The Beatles are the only band to have four albums in the top 10 at the same time. Those would be Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's, The Magical Mystery Tour, and the White Album (more accurately titled The Beatles). They were recorded in the span of, what, two years. Basically from 1965 to 1967.
So the Beatles were really a flash in the pan, as far as bands go. That does not mean they did not change the world.
Of course they had their problems. John was a real asshole. Paul was horribly insecure. George was constantly depressed. And Ringo was an alcoholic. But when they got together, they recorded some of the best music ever. I still say that side 2 of Abbey Road (1970) is real genius, even though it's mostly half-finished songs strung together in a jam session.
They knew it would be the last time they played together, so they went into the studio with something to prove. And they proved it. They were also never in the same room together again.
The Beatles didn't have the staying power of the Rolling Stones. There's an old saying. In the event of nuclear war, only two things will survive--cockroaches and Keith Richards.

As far as Black Sabbath goes, let me ask you a question. If you were walking around Birmingham, England, say in 1968, and you came across Ozzy Osbourne on the street, would you guess that he would become one of the greatest frontmen ever? What about Tony Iommi? He accidentally sliced off the top of his fingers with a saw on his last day of work at a steel factory. Would you have guessed he'd become one of the greatest guitar players ever? Terrence Butler was studying to be a priest before he became a musician Would you have guessed he'd become one of the greatest lyricists/bass players ever? And Bill Ward, nobody even knew who he was. Would you have guessed that he would become one of the greatest drummers ever?
The Beatles changed the world. It is true. But Black Sabbath changed music. Nothing was the same after either of them. But for the greatest album of all time, I'll take Master of Reality every day and twice on Sunday.
Gawains, agree on all Sabbath points. Maybe I am too hard on the Beatles but their stuff just does nothing for me.
I'm sorry that the Beatles do nothing for you. But you had to grow up in that era to understand. Revolver and Sgt. Pepper's were two really good albums. They revolutionised the music industry. They really did.
But Black Sabbath? Listen to the bands today. Who do they sound more like, the Beatles or Black Sabbath?
The Beatles had their moment in the sun. But look at them at the beginning of 67, in their fancy uniforms. And look at them at the end of 67, with their long hair and beards. That was the 60s, brother.
Look at Black Sabbath. Nobody knew about them. They were so underground that even the underground didn't know about them. I first heard them when I was 13, in the 7th grade. And it freaked me out.
I saw Elvis in 72. He was the best. I saw Kiss in 76. They were the best. I saw the Stones in 90. They were the best.
But the best band I've ever seen play was Black Sabbath. The Never Say Die tour in 78. That was the best set I've ever seen or heard.
The Beatles were a phenomenon. They came after Elvis, as part of the "British Invasion." And wrote a few good songs and made a couple of good albums. Big deal.
If you listen to music today, it's all about coyping Black Sabbath. From Master of Reality to Technical Ecstacy, Black Sabbath changed the music scene. And they were just four lost boys from Birmingham.
The Beatles may have changed the world, and they did. But Black Sabbath changed music. Just listen to the tracks from before and after Black Sabbath, and then you'll know.
Nobody sounds like the Beatles today. Everybody sounds like Black Sabbath. "You say you want a revolution, well, you know, we all want to change the world."
I love friday night for two big reasons first one is.. we get full enjoyment on friday night and forgot our all worries and another one is I love party so friday is the only one day in a week when we all guys enjoy together in pub, bar and discotheques.
