Great song. Makes me want to go outside and look up at the stars.
I was inspired to find a song that similarly moved my soul (not that I'm a religious person). There are quite a few but if I had to pick one just for today, then I'd choose this one.
It is a great song. But if I had to pick one that moved my soul, it would probably be Mozart's 40th symphony, which really isn't a song but it is moving.
Or maybe the horn concertoes. Those are great to get drunk to.
Or maybe the Magic Flute, which is possibly the greatest opera ever.
Or maybe one of the piano concertoes or one of the violin concertoes. Those are moving.
The point being I love Mozart. The man was genius beyond genius.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some rock and roll. The most moving rock and roll song for me would be I've Lost You sung by Elvis.
Oh, and by the way, that wasn't a Super Bowl. That was a slaughter.
As much as I dislike Seattle and hate their coach, I have to admit that they showed the rest of the NFL exactly how to beat a pass-happy offense. Just beat up the receivers and harrass the quarterback. Win!
It doesn't bode well for my Cowboys, who are obsessed with pass-happy, or your Patriots if the rest of the league catches on to this simple fact. Defense wins championships.
Mark, that was a great song, was thinking it was going to be sarcastic LOL!
Gawians, Try Georges Zamphyr's the lonely shepherd if you like that sort of thing. And yes, that game was brutal, Seattle was lights out. Glad the Pats lost before the SB!!
Yeah, I admit that my Cowboys suck. They've gone pass-happy with a quarterback who has a bad back. And no running game and no defense to speak of. The future does not bode well for them, no matter how many stupid pizza commercials Jerry Jones makes.
I still love Mozart though. His music is incredible. That movie, Amadeus, was spot on. Mozart was an impetuous child, but what would one expect from a child who was playing the piano and the violin by the age of six?
I could go on and on about Mozart, but the thing that strikes me most is that when he was a child and his father was taking him on a tour of Europe, they visited Rome. They were shown a pipe organ, and once Mozart understood how it worked, he ran up, started pumping the pedals with his feet, and spontaneously composed an organ concerto on the spot. The Pope declared it an act of God.
Then, they went and heard a choir sing a secret melody. Only the members of the choir were allowed to know the notes. Mozart went home and wrote the entire song, note for note, from memory. At the age of eight! Can you imagine that?
When I want to be inspired, I listen to Mozart. He hated the horn, because of its tonal qualites, but his horn concertoes are the best. Go figure. His piano and violin concertoes are the best as well. And his symphonies are out of this world, as are his few operas.
It is a well-documented fact that children who are played Mozart while young, grow up to be more intelligent. I happen to think that playing old jazz, like Scott Joplin or Thelonius Monk, would have the same effect. That was intelligent music.
As far as the Super Bowl goes, football is very simple really. Just beat the snot out of the other team. Same with music. I noticed that the half-time show was lip-synched, which to me is a heresy. If you can't play it live, you can't play it. That's all I know.

ReplyDeleteHoly crap! I forgot to use sarcasm! I must be getting senile in my old age. ;)

Um, yeah, WE did do that didn't we? ;)
(Yes, I live in the Seattle area. :))
Since you liked that song, here's another. :)

That kind of music really takes me away.
