Lots of Moving Parts

Hopefully reader Gawains will still talk to me after the blown ending by the Dallas Cowboys against the New England Patriots. Patriots had ZERO reason to win that game, but things happen.

Lots of Moving Parts
I have thought about a post for a couple of days, but I think I will save it for tomorrow instead. Preview would be I wonder if we are at a point where all the charts/lines etc will not matter (think resistance and overhead supply) because it what I will call "Panic De-Selling". I will go over that thesis tomorrow.

As such, I will be screening stocks tonight in the iBankCoin PPT and talking ideas in the 12631 Pelican room. I do believe a "make no sense rally" up could take off from here just like the huge summer drop cut through long term support like it did not exist. More tomorrow night.

Auto Racing Tragedy
I know that driving at insane speeds around a track in a little car is not the safest way to do things, but the crash today in the Indy Car race at Las Vegas was horrific and terrible. Dan Wheldon lost his life in the crash. It is very sad. If you have ever lost a hero to such a tragic event then you know it's very painful. Best wishes go out to his family.

Have a good night.

  1. Oh, I'll still talk to you, my very good friend.

This loss didn't disturb me as much as the losses against the Jets and the Lions. Those were inexcusable.

I didn't expect Dallas to win this game, but the Cowboys did play better than I thought they would, on defense anyway. New England simply played smarter football, going no huddle for most of the game to eliminate Rob Ryan's exotic blitz packages.

The Patriots made some mistakes, two fumbles and two interceptions, but the Cowboys couldn't capitalize on them. New England is not a team you're going to beat by kicking field goals.

Also, penalties killed Dallas. This is not a disciplined team, hasn't been for a long time. It's one thing to get beat. It's another to beat yourself.

When Brady got the ball back with 2 1/2 minutes left to play, I knew it was over. Sure enough, the Patriots just marched down the field and scored. They weren't playing to tie the game. They were playing to win.

Sigh. Yet another season of mediocrity for the Cowboys. Oh, well, at least the Rangers are in the World Series.

Anyway, I'm about halfway through Reckless Endangerment. It's really very good, reads like a murder mystery. A lot of research went into writing this book. The main focus is on the corruption and politicization of Fannie Mae by Jim Johnson, who pocketed $100 million for his sleazy work. But the book also delves into behind-the-scenes political deals and payoffs that laid the foundation for financial calamity. It paints a dark picture.

I'll try to finish it this week and send you my review, but I have a lot of work to do. And I'm flying up to Dallas next weekend to watch the game with some friends of mine. Why, I don't know.

If the Cowboys blow a lead and lose to the winless Rams, I'm going to open a vein.

  2. Thanks Gawains, but the Pats had no reason to win that game. Cowboys are great, just missing the killer gene.

  3. Sorry about Dan Wheldon. Haven't talked to my brother yet, but he is a long time racing fan.
