Quick Notes

Raining here again and of course that means the drive home was extra long. Always fun. Just a few quick notes.

Market Operations
I did some work last night and found a few trading ideas I figured were worth a look. If the market is setting up for a run higher, then I wanted to get some experience trading it. It's no secret trading has been very hard for the past couple of months and I have been on the sidelines for a long time.

Using some screens I built inside the iBankCoin PPT, I came up with a complete list of ideas. I trimmed it down to three names to try here VHC, VGR, and my top pick CVLT. My plan was to buy today and hold until tomorrow and sell if I could get a bump up in price. VHC and VGR did ok today but CVLT was a great runner moving up 6% today and I got most of that move. Here is a fast chart showing some notes on it from last night:
The plan is too see if stocks run again tomorrow ahead of the President's night speech and sell before the close. We shall see if I can make a few bucks.

Reading Now
What am I going to read tonight? This of course:
Check out Daniel Wilson's Robopocalypse at Amazon. So my kind of book.

Have a good night.

  1. I lost the internet sometime last night, and had to wait until 7:00 AM this morning to call the cable company and get reconnected. Not a good thing to have happen during repo week, because everything, other than driving to vacant houses, has to be done online.

This is why I don't fret much over technology. It's prone to failure. A computer, a robot, can only do what it is programmed or designed to do.

But I will say this. A couple of years ago, my mother totalled her Grand Prix. So she bought a new car, an Altima. Nice car, fully loaded, GPS monitoring system, just what a girl needs.

A couple of months later, she got an email with a detailed report on her car. Tire pressure, oil level, etc., and it freaked her out. "How do they know all this?" she asked.

I tried to explain to her about computer boards, satellite networks, GPS systems, and the like, but it only freaked her more out.

"You mean they're watching me?!" she exclaimed.

Well, yeah. Actually, they're watching your car. It's constantly sending them information. "But I don't want them to know where I am or what I'm doing!" After that, she would only drive from home to the office. Anywhere else she needed to go, I had to drive her in my old truck. (I didn't tell her about the cell phones.)

One day, I went into the office, and she was standing in front of a window with papers pressed against the glass. I knew what she was doing. See, there was this contract that had to be sent to the title company, but the buyer had neglected to initial one of the pages. So she took a page the buyer had initialed, placed the other on top of it, and held it up against the glass to make an exact copy of his intitials. She's a very clever forgerer.

    I said, "Mother, the satellites."

"Oh, my God, do you think they saw me?"

I just shrugged and went on about my day, and left her in paranoia.

  2. Funny story Gawains! I'd like to make my Friday night request for my birthday, GYSC. I couldn't make up my mind, so Justin here at work made a suggestion and I agreed immediately! Johnny Paycheck - Take This Job and Shove It!
