You have my deepest condolences. I know what it's like.
When we first moved down here, I didn't know anyone. But there was this one kid, Thomas Bianco, who became my best friend. We were inseparable.
He lived out in the country. Problem was, I had a 10-speed bike and he didn't. I would ride my bike out to his house so we could play together. This went on for years.
7th grade, his parents finally bought him a 10-speed bike for Christmas. He called me, so excited. He was going to ride to my house, then we could go riding together.
He jumped on his bike, raced out of the driveway, and got run over by a semi-truck, killed in front of his parents' house.
I sat outside on the curb with my bike waiting for him, hour after hour after hour. Then my parents came out and told me what had happened. I didn't believe them. I refused to believe them.
I was in denial. I didn't accept reality until I saw my best friend, my only friend, dead in an open coffin at the funeral wake.
I hope you are doing OK. Let me know if I can be of help.
