I had a evening appointment and some errands to do so out of time. If you miss me you can always follow me on Twitter as I scribe useless stuff on the fly. Tonight, in honor of the raging fight between the bulls and bears, I present a pictorial of all kinds of battles for visual enjoyment. If you correctly identify every one you get lead off song pick for Friday night.

I can't possibly get them all . . . but I'll try to do my best. :)
ReplyDelete1. Lincoln Hawk vs. Bull Hurley in Over The Top (I know my kickass 80s movies!)
2. Gandalf the Grey vs. The Balrog.
3. Evander Holyfield vs. Larry Holmes fight. Great bout!
4. Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier. I must admit I was expecting Liston here, since he was "The Bear" after all. :)
5. Big Mac vs. The Whopper. LOL!
6. Optimus Prime vs. Megatron. YEAH!!!
7. Angelina Jolie vs. Jennifer Anniston. Rawrrr!
8. Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Noooooo!
9. Uhhhh . . . Antibodies vs. Pathogens? I'm no biologist, but I do know those "Y" shaped things are antibodies at least.
10. Griller's dilemma: Charcoal vs. Propane. :)
Now, I don't know if got them all right . . . but if I did, then my song pic for Friday night is (drum roll, please) -- PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE!
Oh come on, you just knew that was coming!
#3 is wrong but the rest are right. Close enough in my book. How you been?
ReplyDelete#3 is Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Thomas Hitman Hearns. Now that was a war.

I drove all the way to Austin, 500 miles, to watch that fight on the big screen at the convention center, because that was the nearest place I could see it. And it didn't last three rounds, but it was exciting.
For Friday Night Entertainment, I recommend the Rolling Stones, "Jumping Jack Flash." An interesting song recorded in 1968.

It changed rock and roll, man, because at the time it was totally new. That's Keith Richards on bass, acoustic and rhythm guitar. Brian Jones on lead guitar. Bill Wyman on organ. Charlie Watts on drums. Nicky Hopkins on piano. And Mick Jagger on vocals and maracas, with believe it or not producer Jimmy Miller on background vocals.
I had a feeling that would be the wrong one. Don King looks too young in the background for the Holyfield/Holmes fight. :) I know I should know that fight, though . . . grrrrr!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing great! My brother's in town and we've been painting the place red. Good times. There's a chill in the air, too, and tonight will be down in the 40s for the first time in a LONG time.
Couldn't be better! And you?
Impressive, David! Wow.
ReplyDeleteAnd I really liked Over the Top. Best of 80s cheese right there, yo.
This was a good challenge. I probably would have guessed 5 right, if that.
