How Bizarre

Ok, I just watched a bunch of the most weird, bizarre football ever!

The Saints were a no show and even after that killed themselves on a late drive with penalties.

The Colts seemed content to play the Jets game and blew it in the end.

Does anyone play to win, or just not to lose?

Wildcard weekend was a silly day so far.

  1. I didn't get to watch the Saints game, only the highlights. What a shocker. But that's what happens when you don't have a running game.

Julius Jones? He's good for a yard and a fumble. Or that's what he was good for when he was in Dallas.

I did get to watch the Jets game. Another shocker. But that's what happens when you have a running game. It keeps the opposing offense off the field.

Did you know that Mark Sanchez has now won more playoff games than any quarterback in Jets history? Not exactly sure how much of an accomplishment that is--the Jets have only won 11 playoffs games--but it is noteworthy.

The game I'm looking forward to is Packers-Eagles. Naturally, I want Philly to lose, because I hate them. And because I'd like to see Green Bay do it all.

I really thought the Saints would make it back to the Big Game, but injuries did them in. I don't see anyone on the horizon who can stop New England from returning though. Love him or hate him, Belichick is a damn good coach. And Brady is playing out of his mind.

Of Super Bowl coaches, only Knoll and Walsh won four. Gibbs won three. Lombardi, Landry, Shula, Parcells, Flores, Shanahan won two. All the rest won only one.

Of Super Bowl quarterbacks, only Bradshaw and Montana won four. Aikman won three. Starr, Staubach, Griese, Plunket, Elway won two. All the rest won only one.

So with three Super Bowls, and on the verge of a fourth, Belichick and Brady are already in elite company. A fifth will set them apart.

Oh, and for the record, no, I am not happy with the elevation of Jason Garrett to head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
