Back Home Again

I have returned from a week of Sun and warm weather!

Luckily it is about 80 degrees here right now as not to make my body go into temperature shock.

Vacation was excellent. The wife and I love The Bahamas. I actually took a few pictures this time as well. I am off from work tomorrow to try and get settled back in.

Of course the week I leave, NASCAR driver #29 Kevin Harvick wins last week at Talledega Superspeedway in an amazing finish to the race and comes in 3rd last night at Richmond to take over the points lead! Thanks alot Kevin!!!

I am just reading through a few items I missed;
-oil spill looks ugly
-Goldman drama still alive
-Greece drama ever expanding
-I am sure there is other stuff

Will check in tomorrow and maybe have a picture heavy post.

Have a good night.

  1. It's good to have you back, GYC. And I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation.

I remember those days fondly, back when I was teaching, the paid summer vacation. I travelled and had a real good time. These days I'll be lucky if I can get a weekend off to go to a Cowboys game. (It's about a nine hour drive from here to Dallas, so that would make it at least a four day weekend.)

Anyway, yeah, the oil spill looks ugly. But oil is a naturally occuring, biogradable product. It's not like earthquakes in the past haven't opened fissures before. Still the environment continues to recycle, species continue to adapt, and the world goes on.

Goldman Sach has all the looks of a dead man walking. I can't say that I'm surprised by that, but I will be if the execution is carried out.

Greece has always been a drama, if not often a tragedy. The birthplace of Western civilization, hmmm.

The other stuff you missed is more of the same.

    God help us all.

  3. Gawains,
Thanks for the welcome back. Do you think you will be going to the Thanksgiving Cowboys-Saints game? Not sure I can flake out for that holiday but I am sure thinking about it if tickets can be had.

    Dave,
    Ha!
I went to the Atlantis Resort to play poker, and they do not even have a poker table there anymore, denied!

The resort had beef ribs on the menu, I asked how they were cooked and they said braised!!!!! That is not beef ribs!

  4. Welcome back!

    1. Your vacation was excellent. Fantastic!
    2. It should therefore help you be more productive at work. Awesome!
    3. If you do more work, then fewer workers will be needed. Productivity miracle!
    4. If fewer workers are needed, then they can go on vacation too! Prosperity!
    5. China. Debt. Unemployment. Crisis.

Oh crap. I'm seeing an "Economic Disconnect" here. Something went wrong at step #5.

  5. Well, my brother can only fly down to Dallas in Sept or Oct, so we pick the best game available in those two months. This year we're going to the Monday Night game against New York.

But I might drive up to Dallas and go to the Saints game. It depends on whether the relatives come for Thanksgiving or not. In all her life, my mother has never spent a holiday alone. So if family doesn't come, I'm not going to abandon her just to go see a football game.

Of course, the problem for me will be that by the time I know family is coming, tickets will most likely be very expensive.

There are always tickets available for Cowboys games. All that really matters is how much you're willing to pay. This is why when I make reservations for my brother and me, I always make them in April so I can get the best price.

www.cowboytouchdowntravel.com offers a Victory Value package that includes two nights at the Marriott, free transportation to and from the airport, bus to and from the stadium, tailgate party, and game ticket. Prices vary according to seat section. For example, for the above and a seat in section 417 (the nosebleeds), the current price is $635 per person. Section 318, $700. And so on. An additional night at the hotel is $175 per room.

But those prices are for the Monday Night game on Oct 25. I didn't check the prices for the Thanksgiving game. They're probably slightly more.

Since you're still on vacation, you should check out their website or give them a call. 1-888-511-2005 Ask for Neil or Shauna, talk to them and see what kind of deal they can give you. They also offer discounts on direct flights on American Airlines to Dallas out of Boston.

Dallas is a nice city, and JerryWorld is a spectacle beyond belief. Plus, the Saints on Thanksgiving is going to be one hell of a game.

You could probably make the whole trip with your wife for less than $2000.

  6. Hey GYC,

Would you give us the inside scoop (for those of us who've never been to Bahamas but want to get there eventually), where you went more precisely, what's good and what's not.

That'd be good info to have tucked away.
