You make so...Wowza Vincent, that was quite a post. You make some valid points and I hear you. I have limited time, as I do work full time as a molecular biologist, so no I cannot always comb the web for videos and follow up details for people's work I have no influence over. If you remember the post title was "Two Clips: You Make of It What You Will" and both you and I did so. I have stated my thoughts on the clips, and you have made a thorough rebuttal highlighting some key facts that were not in evidence in the clips being perhaps assumed. I am impressed with your thoughts. I encourage you to offer that kind of penetrating analysis to the economic debates in the commenst section going forward, as I think you have a good thought process.

Again, I am sorry IF I offended or seemed racially motivated, nothing could have been further fom the case. I accept that my brief post left out a ton of info, and could have been much better.

Thanks again for your time and comments, and please come again. Just do not scare off my guys G, Watchtower, and Kevin!EconomicDisconnecthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02802078645713106743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1207581886255094115.post-83735893066925221672008-11-06T16:16:00.000-05:002008-11-06T16:16:00.000-05:00Because your blog is primarily economic in nature,...Because your blog is primarily economic in nature, I will try to follow up my comments of “racial bias” from an economic point of view. Since a more in-depth discussion would be off topic, I invite you to personally email me (below)for a more well balanced and fully developed discussion, if indeed, the use of videos that portray only Blacks, during a presidential election where race has become an issue is, ipso facto, suggestive of racial bias.

The young lady in the video says, “I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car, I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage” at which point the video ends. As I stated this is a sound bite with no basis of good journalism, or good scientific investigation for that matter. If lab mice could talk, I would venture to say that your educational training would demand the follow-up questions inquiring what the mice meant and why they had come to their conclusions.

I will postulate that many who voted for candidate Obama believe, justifiably or not, that he will solve the energy problems plaguing our nation, which drove gas prices up to over $4 per gallon and the unavailability of gas at any price in Atlanta, Georgia, after Hurricane Ike. Certainly, I would not have to worry about putting gas in my car, either, if alternate forms of energy become available at affordable prices.

The same can be said for Barack’s position on job creation, and tax breaks for the middle class. Job security and extra income can go a long way to not having to “worry about paying my mortgage”.

Did she think this? We don’t know and we could leave it at that, however, you show a second video, whose author portrays two Black men as vigilantes. Once again, where is the good journalistic and scientific standard?

Although the audio is difficult to hear, I assume that this is a voting place in what looks like an apartment building. Is it possible that these “security guards” are hired by management and are there each and everyday? If they were in violation of election law, was law enforcement called, and if so, what were the results. The author does not let us know.

Since this video has no economic content, let me address it from your response to my original comment, “Give me a YouTube link with one of those moron "god will make McCain win" or a bunch of drunks with a confederate flag outside a voting site and I will happily include them. I used those videos to highlight dumb behavior, which is my normal operation.” Perhaps a better question is why didn’t you provide such a video.

What I “chose” to see is two videos of dubious quality and content that had it not been for the fact that all the actors are Black, at best would have proved nothing, leaving me with a surprised feeling of racial bias on your part despite my belief in your abilities of seeing complex issues beyond what is obvious.

Once again, I invite you to personally respond by email, as my comments, here, have been limited, and superficial, to a rather sensitive issue within our society.

Vincent
atlantafox@yahoo.comVincenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07453221414246721955noreply@blogger.com
