He bought used Corvettes, rennovated and resold them. He must have made a lot of money doing that, much more than a couselor's salary, because he drove a Mercedes sport coupe convertible. He took me to lunch once in that car, and I have to tell you, man, that car was fine. It's probably the finest car I've ever ridden in.

My father was a car enthusiast. He had a subscription to Car and Driver and various other car magazines. When I was a kid, he drove a GTO. Now that's a muscle car. He later drove a Corvette Stingray, maroon, t-top, 427 engine with a dual-quad carburetor and a t-shifter.

He let me drive it once. He asked me if I wanted to take it down to the gas station and fill it up. "Sure, Dad." I took it to the beach, was gone all day with girls climbing in and out. I loved my Dad, but c'mon you have to be a little off to give a sixteen-year old boy the keys to a car like that.

When I got home, he was standing in the exact same place as when I left. Yeah, he stood there all damn day. And he looked over that car like you wouldn't believe. I had washed and vacuumed it of course, and filled the tank. I'm not that stupid, but he never let me drive it again.

He later sold that Corvette and bought a new one, the last of the Stingrays. Now that was a car. Fully loaded and sweet. He never let me drive it. In fact, I never even rode in it, but it was nice.

In between, he did own an RX-7 which he allowed me to drive for my prom date. It was a nice car, but not a Corvette.

Boys and their toys. That's all I can say about it. Some men are very particular about their cars.

In my life, I've driven a Toyota, a VW van, a jeep, an Isuzu, a Ford truck, and now an RX-8. None of them would be suitable for your needs, considering where you live.

If I were you, given the snow and ice-covered roads, I'd be looking at something with 4-wheel drive, like a truck or a jeep. That jeep was the best car I ever owned, by the way. Just take off the top, drive to the beach, girls climbing in and out; it was actually better than the Corvette. But I was young then.

You've been writing about that Buick for a while. I say, go with your gut. If that's the car you want, buy it.GawainsGhosthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16719480047404817864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1207581886255094115.post-72610375159519552042014-03-06T23:30:36.171-05:002014-03-06T23:30:36.171-05:00"thus this car would be daily driver even thr... "thus this car would be daily driver even through winter,"

If I'm understanding you correctly then this next car you're thinking about purchasing will be your only car (plus your wife has her own car)?

If that's the case then I don't see much of an option except an Infiniti with all wheel drive with the winters you have up there.

Now if I'm wrong in my assumption, then I would test drive all those other cars you mentioned plus I'd throw in a test drive of a Mustang GT and pick the one that turned my crank the most.

Can't hardly lose with that list imo.

Watchtowerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08833772067989549769noreply@blogger.com
